Mediation is a negotiation method that is mandatory in most divorce-related lawsuits. In mediation, ordinarily each spouse is in a separate conference room. A mediator shares settlement offers and counteroffers between the spouses. The mediator coaches each spouse to make compromises and see things from their spouse's perspective. Mediators and mediation are very effective at resolving marital disputes without trial.
